Happy New Year! The first blog post I wrote on More than Rubies last January was a looking back on 2015 post. I can’t believe I’ve almost been blogging for one year! 2015 was a rough year with a lot of changes and moves, and I am happy to say that 2016 was much more stable. Living only an hour away from my family this past year and a half has been amazing. It makes my heart so happy that I get to drive down and see them pretty much anytime I want. It is definitely not something I take for granted after being away for so many years. Today, I am ready to say Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017! Read more
Becca blushes are some of the most pigmented, beautiful blushes I have ever used. So when I heard Milani Baked Blushes were an amazing drugstore alternative, I was excited to give it a try. Keep reading to see if Becca Songbird is a dupe for Milani Baked Blush Luminoso, including swatches of both.
Happy last Sunday of Advent, friends! Christmas is only one week away! On this Advent Sunday, we are celebrating the LOVE that God has for us, demonstrated through the birth and life of Jesus.

Christmas is officially only two weeks away! I went to the most fabulous Christmas market yesterday and bought my first few Christmas presents. I love Christmas craft fairs so much, they put me right in the happy holiday spirit. It’s so much fun to see all the local handmade stuff. People are so creative! Today, on the third Advent Sunday, the theme is REJOICE.
On Sunday, I spent the day making Christmas cookies with my Mom, and we came across this recipe for Angel cookies in her recipe box. We decided to give it a try, because it seemed really simple, and we were blown away by how good these are! They are so light and airy, and I now understand why these are called angel cookies, because they are heavenly!
December is the ultimate month for YouTube. It is a time when all the videos are festive, people are happy, and there is so much to watch it’s hard to keep up. Vlogs are some of my favourite videos to watch, so I am especially delighted this month, when there are so many to choose from. If you don’t know what Vlogmas is, it is when YouTubers post a vlog (video diary, day-in-the-life sort of video) every day from Dec. 1 to Dec. 24 as a lead-up to Christmas. This post is a selection of vlogmas videos you should be watching this month.
The snow’s coming down, I’m watching it fall..lots of people around, baby PLEASE come home! Ok, so the snow is not coming down. In fact, we haven’t even had a proper snowfall yet! There’s snow on the mountains, but none in town or on our grass or anything. Nonetheless, December is upon us, I have already been to two Christmas parties, and it is time to get festive! To kick off this Christmas season, I thought I would do the Christmas tag. There are quite a few of these floating around, so I picked a few of my favourite Christmassy questions. Be sure to let me know your answers to these questions in the comments below.
Only three weeks to go until Christmas Day! I have to admit, I am not ready at all. I haven’t bought any presents yet, and we don’t even have our tree up! Ironically (or fittingly…), today’s Advent Sunday is all about preparation, or preparing the way for the Lord.
It is December 1st, and Christmas party season is upon us! I have two Christmas parties to go to this week, and they both take place after work. I don’t wear a ton of makeup to work, so if I’m going out after I usually bring makeup along with me if I don’t have time to go home first. It is so easy to transform a day look to a night look with just a few products. Today I am sharing with you four products you can throw in your purse to create a day-to-night office Christmas party makeup look.
